Pitztal will be connected to Sölden soon

Everyone who has skied on the glacier above Sölden has probably looked west from the natural terrace of the Rettenbach Glacier (yes, it is here where the Alpine Ski World Cup Opening is held every October) when the weather was clear and saw the ski runs and lifts of another popular ski resort in the distance – the glacier at the end of the Pitztal valley. Pitztal is actually not far from here at all...

The idea of connecting the ski resorts above Sölden with the Pitztal Glacier is almost 30 years old. And the latest news from Austria has been exceedingly interesting.
Intensive work on analyzing the project's impact on the landscape and environment has been going on since about 2013. Several alternatives have been proposed, including the construction of a gondola lift and new ski runs going from the Rettenbach Glacier to the Pitztal valley, or even a ski tunnel. The technical implementation of the project is, however, an ongoing subject of intensive discussion.

Even the most modest alternative of this project, which should soon become a reality, includes at least a gondola lift leading from the base station in the ski resort on the glacier in Pitztal to the Braunschweiger Hütte and up to the rock terrace, where the intermediate station of the Schwarze Schneid gondola servicing the Rettenbach Glacier slopes is already situated. In practice, it means that if you get on the lift in Pitztal, you can ski all the way to Sölden.

The completion date of the new connection is still to be confirmed, but it probably could be ready for the 2018/2019 winter season.

The largest glacier ski area in the world will emerge by connecting the resorts on the glaciers of Pitztal and Ötztal. The Rettenbach and Tiefenbach Glaciers above Sölden, which have already been connected, offer a total of 35 kilometers of slopes. The number of kilometers on the Pitztal Glacier is similar, but it boasts the highest ski terrain in Austria – the lift to the top of Brunnenkogel will take you up to 3440m above sea level. In total, there will be almost 70 kilometers of ski slopes available with guaranteed snow from late summer to late spring after these resorts are connected.

It is Pitztal that will profit the most from the linkage between Pitztal and Ötztal because the visitors will be able to enjoy the ski slopes above the more luxurious and expensive Sölden, including the comfortable facilities in the valley.

This is the reason why this may be the best time to invest in real estate in Pitztal. The current house and land prices on the Pitztal side are much lower than in Sölden. The appreciation of homes in Pitztal is to be expected after the resorts are connected.

There are no plans for new construction in the near future, except for a single project consisting of apartments and separate chalets. It is a project of a renowned and highly experienced developer. In addition, the Austrian housing market is one of the most stable markets in the world. The fact that all chalets have been sold already demonstrates the exquisiteness of this investment opportunity. There are only a few remaining apartments for sale.
